Introduction to CNA Education
A CNA is also known as a certified nursing assistant or a
patient care assistant and works under the supervision of a nurse and for the most part, can be rather draining
in many ways. They are the ones that give the patient direct care. They help patients with their daily
activities and help with things such as daily hygiene. The job of a CNA is not easy and can drain you both
physically and mentally. It requires patience and compassion in order to be successful. In order to become a
CNA, there is a CNA education course that needs to be taken. It is not that difficult one you know how to become a CNA.
A Certified Nursing Assistant takes care of patients and their daily needs such as bathing, getting dressed,
eating, grooming, walking and transfers, oral care, and other activities. They are not necessarily there to do
everything for them, just to give them a hand when needed. These are the types of skills you learn with a CNA
education along with other things. The CNA exam is required in order to become certified to work in the field.
The test is two parts and is a very important tool to have.
A CNA education course teaches you a variety of things so that you are ready for just about
anything once you start working. You are taught people skills and to handle certain situations. You are taught
how to transfer and lift patients correctly as this ensures neither you nor the patient get hurt. This is an
important part of your course. You are also going to be taught how to handle stress and anger from patients as
this is something you may end up facing at some point in your career. You will also learn how to treat patients
who for example have diabetes, cancer, depression, or other health conditions that require special
treatment.
There are now many nursing homes and other medical facilities that will pay for your CNA training and education as long as you work for their company for a year or
whatever time frame they require. This is a great option for those who do not have the money to pay for the
course. Each state varies as far as what they require their CNAs to have. Each state has their own guidelines
and regulations. However, once you are certified in one state, you cannot practice in another state. You will
have to go through that state to see what their requirements are.
There are a few requirements that you need to meet before becoming a CNA. You need to have a high school
diploma in order to enroll in a course. Because basic skills are required, the course is an average of 75 hours
of practical and classroom training. Afterwards, a state exam is required. There are two parts for you to take
and pass. One is a written part and the other is a hands on clinical portion. You will need to demonstrate your
knowledge of about 5 skills that they test you on. This certification can be used as a stepping stone to your
career in healthcare. There is much you can do in the healthcare if you have the right education.
