CNA Skills Training Classes
In order to become a CNA, you need to enjoy working
with people and have a sense of compassion as you are going to be dealing with people on a daily basis. This type
of work is not for everyone and can be difficult and emotionally and physically draining at times. It’s very fast
paced and they work under the supervision of a nurse. It can become frustrating as the work load can become
overwhelming at times depending where you are working. There are some people who just see the job for the money and
in this case they have a hard time succeeding. There are many CNA skills training areas that need to be learned
first and schooling is not long, but is very demanding.
It’s not extremely difficult to become a CNA as some may think. Each state has their own
requirements and once you are certified in one state that does not mean you can use it in a different state. Each
state has a different length of the class and it averages to be about 3 to 6 months and in some cases it may take
longer. You will be taught a wide variety of CNA skills training and depending on the place you
work at, you may use all or only a few of them.
It doesn’t matter what state you are in, you are going to need to be trained. Some nursing homes
and other places will offer free classes in exchange for you to work at their company. These places usually ask you
to work for t hem for about a year and sometimes less. This can be a great way for you to get some experience and
to prepare for your career. You can also use this as a stepping stone and work your way up once you are comfortable
with everything.
Some of the CNA skills training things you will learn
include:
- Lifting and transferring
- Taking vital signs
- Personal care
- Oral care
- Grooming
- Bathing and more
There are two portions of the test that you will need to pass before you can become certified. There is a
written part that tests your knowledge about certain things such as what would you do in a certain situation
and others. The clinical part is where you are going to be required to do hands-on testing to ensure you know
what to do in a few different areas. You are going to be tested on about 5 CNA skills training where you will
either practice with a dummy or another student. The test is supervised and graded by the person giving the
test. Once you have passed both parts of the test, you can then apply for your CNA certification.
When it comes time to choose a place to work, you can go just about anywhere that employs CNAs. There are
places such as a hospital, nursing or retirement homes, and even private duty care, which is where you go to
the patients home to give them care. You should apply some place where you are going to enjoy working.
